5 Easy Home Remedies to Tame your Frizz

The humid summers and raging monsoons tend to bring several bad hair days to our lives. People with arid wavy or curly locks suffer the most as hair become totally unmanageable. Sometimes, one has no choice but to braid their hair or put them up into a compact bun. People who have active professional and social lives need to remain presentable all day; hair is an important aspect of their appearance. After all, frizzy hair is not a valid excuse for taking a day off from work or claiming worker’s compensation benefits for lost earnings.

Hair frizz when they are dehydrated, i.e. they lack sufficient moisture. Constant dehydration leads to damaged and lifeless hair. The hair cuticles rise and absorb excess moisture from the air; as a result, our hair swell and hence the frizz. There are a number of frizz taming products in the market, but only few of them are actually good for your hair. It is better to opt for natural ingredients for treating hair, rather than relying on chemical formulas on a daily basis. If you cannot visit Nicole Hudson in her hair and beauty salon to beat the frizz try these amazing home remedies to tame and nourish your frizzy hair the healthy way:

Coconut Oil Blow Dry

Hair dryers are not a friend of frizzy hair. If your hair gets parched and puffy, you shall allow it to dry naturally after a wash. Nonetheless, some people cannot give up their daily blow dry, as it is their preferred technique to style hair. If you absolutely must blow dry your hair, apply a bit of coconut oil throughout the length of your hair while they are damp after a rinse or wash. The coconut oil will help lock moisture in your hair strands, so they will look smoother and lustrous after the blow dry.

Daily Rinse with Cold Water

Shampooing daily is a bad habit if your hair tends to get dry and frizzy, as chemicals in the shampoo strip the hair of its natural oils. You must exercise a two-day gap between hair washes. What you must do is rinse your hair with plain cold water on the days when you don’t shampoo. Then allow your hair to hang loose and dry naturally. Unlike hot water, cold water does not widen your scalp pores to remove residue; it simply keeps your hair cool and hydrated, whilst greatly reducing the frizz.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar is acidic in nature, given its low pH value. Healthy hair also has an acidic pH, ranging between 4.5 and 5.5. Many hair experts recommend the usage of diluted cider on hair as it flattens and closes the hair cuticles. Closed cuticles prevent dehydration, keeping the hair moist, shiny, and tangle free. Add equal amounts of the vinegar and water in a bowl, and generously apply on your hair. Let the solution stay on your hair for 20 to 30 minutes, and then you may rinse it with cold water. The smell of apple cider vinegar may seem strong, but it will go away after the rinse.

Aloe Vera and Castor Oil

Aloe Vera gel has several benefits for the hair. It works as an excellent conditioner that provides a clean and fresh feeling. Aloe Vera gel also helps combat dandruff, but it does not do much for frizz on its own. However, a mixture of Aloe Vera gel and castor oil does wonders for dry hair. Blend one tablespoon of the gel with castor oil and apply to hair; cap your hair for an hour and wash them afterwards.

Hot Oil Massage

Hot oil massages are fantastic for nourishing and moisturizing the hair and scalp. Argan Oil is particularly great for frizz control. Massage some heated oil into your hair and let it stay overnight. Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Almond Oil are also some good alternatives, depending on your hair type and preference.
